What’s up, everyone! I’m Michael Autore, and this is SlimThick NYC LLC. I’d had this vision for a while, starting something that would hopefully help people find their strength (physically and mentally), discover their confidence, and evolve their way of living. So in January 2021, from my cozy New York apartment in lower Manhattan, I got to work on making SlimThick a reality!
But why SlimThick? Where did the name come from?
You ever have a song lyric that just sticks with you? Ever since I heard “Slimthick” in a song back in 2016, it really resonated with me (shoutout to Fetty Wap for the inspiration). I was immediately drawn to the word, and used it often. I moved to NYC in 2018 and started to get my ass back in shape. Thanks to kettlebells, and a lot of pasta bolognese, my curves started to show… that's when “slimthick” entered the chat. I began using the hashtag #slimthick in my Instagram posts, and eventually, my co-workers started using it as a nickname.
But how did it become a business?
Once I moved to NYC, I quickly learned that I was not making enough money to support my lifestyle! I picked up some training clients on the side to bring in supplemental cash. That was great at first, but it really wasn’t fulfilling. I wanted to build something special…something bigger than a personal training business…something bigger than just me. Maybe I could create a whole lifestyle brand? I didn’t know where to start, but I wanted a name. I was certain that I needed a word that embodied what I was building (pun intended). I made some phone calls, and a month later received a letter from the IRS addressed to SlimThick NYC LLC.
So that’s the story… and as of today, February 15th 2022, I’m officially ready to share SlimThick with the world. Getting this going has been a crazy ride, but there is much more to come. Thank you for your support, and remember to stay thick!
